DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Boulder comes out on top in a new ranking of the 50 best college towns in America, and Fort Collins is No. 14.
The ranking, released this week, is by Best College Reviews, an online information source for prospective college students.The rankings are based on livability, student-to-resident ratio, cultural offerings, school presence and large employers.
"Boulder is known as a hip and healthy town with a hippy past and great views of the Flatirons," the Best College Reviews report says. "It's one of the nation's most celebrated towns. In rankings it regularly gets voted the best outdoor town, the brainiest city, one of the top cities for artists, and America's Foodiest Town."
The website also praises Boulder — home of the University of Colorado and Naropa University — for its walkability, hundreds of miles of bicycle paths, "outstanding" public transit system, natural attractions, the pedestrian Pearl Street Mall, and its numerous science and tech employers.
