CU Denver breaking ground on $42 million wellness center

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - The University of Colorado Denver is getting a new Wellness Center, complete with student lounges, spaces to study, "reflection" and gaming rooms, and a health clinic.

Saunders Construction will break ground Thursday on the $42.4 million, 92,000-square-foot center, which will take the place of the Redwood parking lot at the intersection of Speer Boulevard and Auraria Parkway.

"The state-of-the-art building is intended to fill the daily leisure needs of each student on the campus with a high focus on inclusiveness and holistic wellness," said CU Denver in a announcement.

The center, which will sit next to the Student Commons Building, is slated for completion in early 2018.
