Prairie View student threatens himself, lockdown caused

BRIGHTON - Prairie View High School was placed on temporarily lockdown at 1 p.m. after a student threatened to hurt himself.

According to Brighton Police, the 16-year-old boy is a special-needs student. He threatened to kill himself with a sharp piece of plastic.

He did not threaten anyone else. The school-resource office was able to get the student to drop the object.

The officer requested backup, and the staff put the school on lockdown as a precaution.

Once the situation was under control, the school was moved to a lockout until the student was removed from the campus.

No one was injured during the incident.
