Schools placed on lockout after shots fired

KUSA - Two schools are on lockout after nearby shots were fired Thursday afternoon.

According to police, a call came in just before 1:30 p.m. near 96th and Zuni in Federal Heights. When officer arrived, they say two men took off on foot.

STEM Launch and Federal Heights Elementary remain on lockout.

One of the suspects is described as a white male who was wearing all red and armed with a .40 or .45mm gun. The second suspect was described as a black male with an afro who had earrings and was wearing a black jacket.

A vehicle of interest is a blue Nissan SUV with a shot out window.

Police urge the public to not approach these men if see, but to contact law enforcement.
