The Denver Preschool Program

The Denver Preschool Program has helped nearly 32,000 Denver families choose and pay for the right high quality preschool for their child since 2007.

Tuition support is available to all Denver families with a 4-year-old and is scaled to family income and quality of the school selected. Families with lower incomes who choose higher quality programs receive more tuition support.

Regardless of the exact setting or type of program, all DPP preschool partners are licensed and undergo a rigorous quality rating and improvement process. DPP's Preschool Checklist also helps families choose the right preschool for their child.

Descriptions of the Denver Preschool Program's participating programs include hours of operation, contact information and the program's quality ratings. Choices range from center-based and public school programs to family child care homes.

Annual studies show children enrolled in the Denver Preschool Program make progress in early math and literacy skills as well as abilities important to lifelong success such as initiative and self-control; most children leave DPP ready for kindergarten. "Giving young children a strong foundation in their education - their future - is the best investment we can make as a community," says Jennifer Landrum, DPP President and CEO. "We know the gains our children make in preschool persist through third grade."

Landrum stressed the importance of choosing high quality preschools. "Quality drives achievement," she explains. "DPP's investment in improving more than 500 classroom benefits all children, not just DPP enrollees."
