DENVER - The pilot of a cross-country commercial flight decided to make an unscheduled landing in Denver Wednesday night over a “possible security concern,” according to a DIA spokesman.
United Flight 1243 diverted to DIA and landed safely around 9:30. It took off in Newark and was scheduled to fly to San Diego, but the pilot decided to divert out of “an abundance of caution,” according to the airline.
Someone told the flight crew there was a suspicious item on the plane, according to the FBI. Nothing was found on the plane, and it was given the all-clear. Passengers were re-screened and were allowed to re-board the plane to continue to San Diego.
