KUSA - What you do to your body as a young adult factors into your health as you age. Staying as healthy as you can will make aging easier. Fitness plays a part in keeping your body operating at top performance. Yoga is one way to improve your body's resilience to everyday stressors.
It provides an opportunity for your nervous system to activate the body's relaxation response. 9Health Fair's gives you a chance to learn about yoga with the Yoga Open at the Colorado Convention Center. Free yoga classes will be offered during the health fair on May 4th, from 7 a.m. - noon.
You can register for the Yoga Open here:http://yogaopen9healthfair.com/. Meditation is another way to relieve stress, which will help reduce your blood pressure. Meditation can also relieve anxiety, depression, and pain. The blood chemistry screening is a good way to establish a baseline measurement of your health.
It provides information about cholesterol, blood glucose, liver, kidneys, thyroid, and more. Your doctor can use the screening results to complete a Health Risk Assessment.
You'll get the best results by fasting for 12 hours before the blood draw and drinking lots of water. The screening costs $30, which is much lower than the $150 to $250 you could pay at a lab or medical facility.
Your family medical history is an important key to knowing about your own health. Providing 9Health Fair and your doctors with the correct family history can help them watch for diseases and disorders for which you could be at risk. The most important links to know are your parents, siblings, and children. It's also important to know about the medical conditions of your grandparents, and aunts and uncles.
The U.S. Surgeon General offers this site as a tool to help your family track medical history.
