Dr. John debunks health myths

DENVER - The web-site lifehacker.com recently posted a list of what its writers determined to be "health myths." They're statements most of us have heard before. For example, "eating fatty foods makes you fat."

We wondered if these were actually myths, so we consulted 9Health Reporter Dr. John Torres. Here are some of the most popular myths, which Dr. John says you may have heard about your body.

- Eating fatty foods makes you fat

- MSG is bad for you

- High-fructose corn syrup is worse than sugar

- Burn X calories to burn Y pounds

- Gluten-free foods are healthier

- Use a scale to manage your weight
