Picabo Street talks about recovering from injury

KUSA - Picabo Street knows exactly what athletes are going through right now as they prepare to compete in Sochi. She's a two-time Olympic medal winner.

She also knows what it's like to fight back after an injury. An accident on the slopes in 1998 led to two long years of intense rehab.

But, she came back to compete in the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City before retiring from competitive skiing.

She talked to 9NEWS from Russia with the lowdown on what's happening there and to share details of a program to help injured athletes cope and bounce back.

Above and beyond Picabo's achievements in her sport, she has worked exceptionally hard to make an impact on children and people of all ages. Founder of Picabo's Street of Dreams Foundation, her mission is to help children achieve their dreams.

Recognized as a credible and authentic brand spokesperson, Picabo has partnered with leading industry corporations such as Nike, Kellogg's, Panasonic, Ralph Lauren, Spider, Chapstick and more.

Picabo has vast television/broadcasting experience having worked with leading entities NBC, CBS, OLN and RSN. Most recently, Picabo starred and finished second in the acclaimed network TV hit, Stars Earn Stripes, that aired in the Summer of 2012.

Dividing her time between homes in Park City, Utah and Birmingham, Alabama, Picabo is happily married and she and her husband, John, are proud parents of four young boys.
