Family safe after rollover hit-and-run

Police say they did arrest the suspect about 30 minutes later.

DENVER - Seatbelts saves lives. That's a message from a father after a hit-and-run driver caused a rollover crash.

Denver Police say the driver of a Honda Civic ran a red light at Evans Avenue and Monaco Parkway at about 1 a.m. Thursday morning.

The crash caused the vehicle Carlos Carrera and his family were in to roll.

The only injuries were a cut to his daughter's knee and scratch behind his son's ear. Carrera is thankful they were all wearing seatbelts.

"Everybody in this state needs to use their seatbelt. Really. It'll save your life,” he said.

Police say they arrested the suspect about 30 minutes later.
