Suspect arrested in Golden fire homicide/arson investigation

GOLDEN - An arrest has been made in the homicide of a man found dead inside a burning home in Golden Saturday morning.

Police said they believe Thomas Kevin Laperch, 22, killed his roommate, and may have set the fire to the home on Iowa Street near North Washington Avenue to hide evidence.

Police said Laperch had recently moved into the home, and a friend of the victim said she believed the two had met through Craigslist.

Laperch was arrested Sunday on the 16th Street Mall in Denver.

"We contacted the Denver Police Department, they have officers that work that area," said Cpt. Daryl Hollingsworth with Golden PD. "(Laperch) has a unique hairstyle, dreadlocks, and he was easy to pick out from the crowd."

Laperch is being held on murder and arson charges. Police are requesting anyone with information on his whereabouts before, during or after the crime on Sat. March 15 to call them at 303-384-8045.

The victim has not been officially identified by the coroners office, but friends said he was a local musician.
