ARVADA - Police have found a man they've dubbed the 'Sunrise Bandit,' who robbed two King Soopers grocery stores in January.

William Spraggins of Arvada was contacted during a traffic stop in the area of 64th Avenue and Quail Street.

He was taken into custody after fighting with officers. He was armed at the time of his arrest, according to police.

He was jailed at the Jefferson County Jail and faces three counts of aggravated robbery and other charges.

Police say on Jan. 7, Spraggins allegedly entered the King Soopers at 12350 W. 64th Ave. just before 4 a.m. He approached a store employee at a checkout lane and demanded money after displaying a handgun.

The second store, located at 9731 W. 58th Ave., was robbed in the same manner on Jan. 12 just after 3:30 a.m. Police say they believe it is the same man.
