Weather helps crews in search for hikers

CLEAR CREEK COUNTY – The search for a missing father and son who disappeared while hiking continued Tuesday.

Damian McManus, 51, and Evan McManus, 19, were visiting from Minnesota. They haven't been seen since April 2. While they're skilled in the outdoors, changing weather conditions has made the search difficult.

"Fortunately, we have excellent weather, bright and sunny, wind is calm, in the mid 30s and quite comfortable," Howard Paul, Alpine Rescue Team spokesperson said. "We are concentrating our search on the south, southwest, and southeast sides of the Echo Lake campground today."

Fifty members from seven different search and rescue teams our taking advantage of the good weather using snowmobiles, skis and snowshoes in an effort to find the pair in Clear Creek County.

Authorities say the two men left for a camping trip on Wednesday and were due back on Sunday. They had driven to Colorado from Minnesota and planned to stop and hike along the way as part of their father-son trip for spring break.

Damian's wife and daughter arrived at the scene Monday.
