DENVER - Arson investigators are looking into what sparked a garage fire behind a vacant home early Wednesday morning.
Fire crews were called to the home at East 31st Avenue and Gilpin Street about 2:30 a.m.
Flames were coming from the roof of the detached, brick garage when crews arrived, according to a Denver Fire chief on scene.
The fire was contained to the garage and did not spread, but the roof was badly damaged by the flames.
The fire chief told 9NEWS the garage was mostly empty, and the structure was still intact after the fire. The home was vacant and the chief said the residents were likely evicted recently. Several bags, boxes and pieces of furniture were piled up in the front yard of the home.
No injuries were reported in the fire.
