A place to recycle leaves, old pumpkins

DENVER - If you're looking for a place to get rid of your leaves or old pumpkins and you don't have a compost bin, you can recycle them with the Denver LeafDrop.

The company says leaves and other yard wastes account for more than 39 percent of what Denver households send to landfills.

LeafDrop is only for Denver residents. No branches or other wastes are acceptable, but you can take pumpkins.

You can drop off this Sunday and next Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. or during the week through Dec. 5 from 7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Sunday Drop-off Options
Sunday, Nov. 9 and 16: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Northwest: Sloans Lake Park - 17th Ave. at Sheridan Blvd.

Southwest: John F. Kennedy High School - Newland St. and Brown Pl.

East Central: Cranmer Park - 3rd Ave. and Clermont St.

Southeast: South High School - Louisiana Ave. and Franklin St.

Northeast: Smiley Middle School - 26th Ave. and Holly St.

Weekday Drop-off Options
Open now through Dec. 5: 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Closed weekends and holidays.

Residents can drop off bagged leaves only at these sites.
Havana Nursery - 10450 Smith Road, just south of I-70 on Havana

Denver Solid Waste Transfer Station - 7301 E. Jewell Ave. (Quebec St. and S. Cherry Creek Dr.)

Weekday LeafDrops must be in tied or secured bags.

Do NOT drop leaves at these sites except during the times and dates specified.

LeafDrop is only for Denver residents.

No branches or other wastes, please. Pumpkins are acceptable.
In case of bad weather, call 720-865-6810 to check for cancellation.
