Body recovered from river

MESA COUNTY - A 38-year-old Grand Junction man was presumed drowned, after being pulled from the Gunnison River Tuesday afternoon.

The Grand Junction Fire Department and the Mesa County Sheriff's Office dispatched officers to the Roller Dam of the Gunnison River. The dam is located about a half- mile south of where the Gunnison River meets the Colorado River.

The man's body was found shortly after 4 p.m. Police believe the man was swimming with a small group of people. They say he was not wearing a life vest.

The man has not been identified.
