9 indicted for alleged baby formula crime ring
|
JEFFERSON COUNTY - Parents trying to save money on baby formula may have unknowingly bought stolen merchandise sold by an organized crime ring. ![]() In Jefferson County, a grand jury has indicted nine people on racketeering charges. They're accused of stealing more than $20,000 worth of formula from stores around Denver and Colorado Springs, then selling it at a discount price online or directly. Prosecutors say it went on for a little more than a year until Target stores noticed the repeated thefts and contacted the police. Formula was also stolen from Safeway, Albertsons, King Soopers, and Wal-Mart stores. The nine suspects face a total of 78 criminal counts. (Copyright KUSA*TV, All Rights Reserved)
