Motorcyclist found dead in roadway

THORNTON - Police found a motorcyclist dead in the middle of a road on Wednesday morning.

Thornton Police say the crash happened in the 10200 block of Riverdale Road. Police were called just after 6 a.m.

The motorcyclist, 48-year-old Theodore Rensink of Thornton, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say he appeared to have sustained critical head and internal injuries.

Investigators say it appears Rensink was heading south on Riverdale Road when he failed to negotiate the curve, lost control, crashed into a curb and was thrown from his bike. Police say he was not wearing a helmet.

Drugs and alcohol are not suspected as factors in the crash, according to police.
