It happened in at a home on 5th Street and 20th Avenue in Greeley just before 9 p.m. on Friday.

When firefighters arrived at the home they found smoke billowing from the roof.

One person in the house was unable to get out and died.

"Our investigators will work with the Greeley Police department to determine cause and origin, and try to reconstruct exactly what happened, and try determine why the victim was unable to leave the home," Dale Lyman, Greeley Fire Marshal, said.

The fire marshal says the inside of the house was cluttered with items, making it difficult for firefighters to maneuver through the home.
