Man barricades himself in house

AVON - Police say a man barricaded himself inside a home Saturday afternoon. One local news agency reported the man was attempting to commit suicide.

It started just before 3 p.m. at the Wildridge subdivision

The Vail Daily Newspaper reports the 61-year-old man had two handguns.

There were initial reports suggesting the man may have had hostages. Police say no hostages were found.

Several law enforcement departments from other jurisdictions were called in to help, after local police were diverted to a bar shooting in Vail.

Police say the man surrendered peacefully early Sunday morning.

His name has not been released.
