Dr. John talks turkey
|
KUSA - Don't blame it on the bird. Dr. John Torres says tryptophan in turkey can't make you sleepy. ![]() "This is the biggest myth of the year, I think," Dr. John said Wednesday on 9NEWS 8 a.m. "We always tell people to drink milk if you're having trouble sleeping. There's a lot of tryptophan in a glass of milk. Scientists estimate you would have to eat about three turkeys over Thanksgiving to get enough tryptophan to fall asleep. " We also asked Dr. John some tips for eating healthy on Thanksgiving. "Don't eat as much as you think you are going to eat that day. Put a lot of vegetables on a plate and then start adding the other things so that way you eat a lot of veggies," Dr. John said. For more tips, watch the video clip. E-mail your health questions to mornings@9news.com. Dr. John answers your questions Wednesdays at 8 a.m. on My20. (Copyright KUSA*TV, All Rights Reserved)
