The U.S. Forest Service has decided to restrict snowmobiles to designated Forest Service roads in the 50,000 acre area until more snow falls.

Winter park fees take effect Friday. An annual pass is $40, and daily fees are $6.

The Vail Pass winter recreation area extends from Copper Mountain on the east to Vail Mountain on the West, Camp Hale on the south and Interstate 70 on the north.
