Mark Rinkel started running the stand earlier this month, hoping to raise $6,000 to help cover the cost of a medical assistance dog for his diabetic brother.

Sunday, the 12-year-old's lemonade stand at South Havana Street and East Warren Avenue brought in $3,909.

That, combined with money Mark had already raised, and a generous pledge, adds up to $6,000.

The dog, which can sense high and low blood sugar levels, can cost upwards of $25,000.

A non-profit group offered to cover most of the cost, but Mark says he'll keep raising money, in hopes of covering the full amount, by himself.
