Search for escaped inmate continues

STERLING - The residents near Logan County Jail are on high alert after a trustee inmate escaped from the facility Wednesday evening. ![]() The Logan County Sheriff's Office says 35-year-old Antonio M. Flores was on work detail when he was escorted by a sheriff's deputy to take out the trash on the jail's east side. Deputies say Flores ran from the jail into the wooded area of the South Platte River bed where the officer lost sight of him. Search teams have used dogs, thermal imaging and night vision equipment in their attempt to located Flores. Flores is described as a Hispanic male with brown hair and brown eyes. Deputies say he is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds. At the time of his escape he was wearing navy blue hospital-type scrubs and Nike tennis shoes. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Sterling Emergency Communications Centers at 970-522-3512; the Logan County Sheriff's Office is 970-522-2578 option 4 or local authorities immediately. Flores was serving time for a nonviolent crime but a felony warrant charging him with escape was issued Thursday. Flores, like any escaped inmate, should be considered dangerous.
