Residents of Castle Rock are receiving e-mails after someone was able to illegally download information from the town Web site.

The information was taken from the Web site subscription service. That service provides customers with information about news, job openings and a calendar of events.

The problem has been fixed and no other town Web sites were involved and were not at risk.

The only data that was potentially downloaded was the Web site subscriber names, e-mail addresses and subscription passwords. Users are being advised to change passwords for other sites if the password is the same one used for the Castle Rock site.

The town is launching a series of initiatives to protect Castle Rock sites in the future.
