Broomfield Police say around 4:05 p.m., a Chevrolet Suburban and a Chevrolet Cavalier were traveling westbound on Highway 7.

Police say the cars collided; the Cavalier spun in front of eastbound traffic and was hit by a Chrysler Pacifica driving eastbound.

The driver of the Cavalier and occupants in the Pacifica were taken to Denver area hospital for treatment.

Traffic near the accident was detoured for several hours. The highway has since re-opened.

The victim's identity was not immediately released.
