2 injured in small explosion

DOUGLAS COUNTY - Firefighters say two people doing work in a home sustained serious burns when there was a small explosion in the home Saturday night.

The home is located at 5090 Hidden Pond Place.

A spokesperson for South Metro Fire says two workers were staining furniture when there was an explosion, around 8 p.m.

The homeowner says he was walking up the stairs when he heard a boom and was blown back.

The basement windows were blown out and there was a small fire, but the fire sprinkler system was activated and the fire was quickly extinguished.

The workers burned their hands and faces and were taken to Swedish Hospital.

Other residents inside the home were not hurt.
