DENVER - The Denver affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is now actively fighting the national organization's decision to pull funding from Planned Parenthood.
In an email sent on Thursday night, the Denver branch asked its supporters to contact Komen's national president and pressure her to change course.
The Denver affiliate had already secured a waiver allowing it to continue funding breast cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood.
Nationwide, pro-choice advocates have said Komen's defunding decision was a cave to conservative politicians who oppose Planned Parenthood because it performs abortions.
