DENVER - Southwest Airlines cancelled all its flights through 4 p.m. Friday at Denver International Airport because of a winter storm hitting Colorado and the airport says there have been nearly 600 total cancellations.

Southwest says it wanted to mitigate the impact of the storm on its operations elsewhere across the country. It will re-evaluate what do to about the rest of the day's flights later.
According to Travis Thompson, DIA representative, Southwest is expecting 600 flights to be cancelled by the end of the day.
Check on all the flight statuses on DIA's website here, http://flydenver.com/flights.
DIA says it believes most of the cancellations that are going to be made on Friday have been made. The airport says it got about 8 inches of snow and believes the worst of the storm is over. Snow removal crews will continue to work overnight into Saturday morning.
People who are set to take a flight this weekend should make sure they check the status with their airline.
