81-year-old country club sold and auctioned

The auction for assets of the club began on Monday morning and will come to a close on Tuesday. The auction is an open house for all potential bidders to view everything up for sale.

Items included in the auction are china, ice machines, paintings, statues, mixers, sinks, fryers and coolers.

The auction representatives say that they received bids on about three items a minute on Monday.

The online auction closed at 4 p.m. Monday and will reopen Tuesday morning. It will officially close at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with all prices final.

The end of the auction will mark the end of the 81-year-old golf course.

The Denver landmark includes a 152-acre course overlooking Ward Lake at 6800 W. Jewell Ave.

It welcomed members for golf, tennis, dining, swimming and a variety of exclusive events. Dedicated members continued to attend the club until the final day of business, Oct. 31, 2011.
