On Friday, one of the people living in the area came forward saying they have scabies, a contagious parasitic disease.
To prevent future problems, crews will now continuously remove items left in the public right of way and power wash the sidewalks along Broadway from Colfax Avenue to 14th Avenue.
Denver Public Works says "to keep the area and its inhabitants free of potential health and safety hazards, it is critical to have an ongoing 'clean sweep' of the area."
Any items left behind will be removed, thrown away or placed into the Denver Police Department's property bureau.
"The purpose of this effort is to clear the area of encumbrances, not individuals," Denver Public Works said in a news release.
Denver Police's property bureau may choose not to take items because they could pose a sanitary, health or safety hazard. Items that are taken in by Denver Police will be kept for 30 days.
