The memorial is being held Monday for Staff Sgt. Christopher Brown of Columbus, Ohio, who was killed April 3 by an insurgent bomb.
Army officials say Ariell Taylor-Brown of Mobile, Ala., learned of her husband's death through a chain of three soldiers and a Facebook message. Next of kin are supposed to be informed in person by uniformed personnel.
