The fire started south of Highway 160, just west of Mancos Hill in Montezuma County. The fire is burning west of La Plata County on Bureau of Land Management and private property.
According to Lt. Ted Meador with the Montezuma Sheriff's Department, the fire was human caused.
Just over 100 homes have been evacuated along with a campground in that area.
Evacuations were made in Montezuma County. No evacuations have been ordered in La Plata County. The La Plata County Sheriff's Office has told residents in Cherry Creek 105 to be prepared for possible evacuation.
A Type 3 management team has been called to manage operations.
