The Colorado Department of Public Health issued a Wildfire Smoke Health Advisory for the Front Range. The advisory expired 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The department advised the elderly and those with a respiratory illness to avoid prolonged exposure Wednesday.

The Squirrel Creek Fire in Wyoming is more than 9,000 acres and is only 12 percent contained.

The fire broke out on June 30, however the winds on Wednesday blew heavy smoke and haze into Colorado.
