Thornton police say the two semi trailers were too large to clear the 15-foot-9-inch bridge.

The collision spread debris on I-25, tying up traffic for miles. There were no injuries.

The Colorado Department of Transportation says the bridge did not sustain any serious damage, but it could take months to make repairs.

The East 88th Avenue Bridge is reduced to one westbound lane. All southbound lanes of I-25 should be reopened by Wednesday morning, according to CDOT.
