Denver Water Public Information Officer Travis Thompson said construction workers reported the break at 6:20 a.m.
Water crews were able to turn the water off to the broken hydrant by 6:38 a.m.
When Sky9 flew over the area around 6:30 a.m. water had overflowed into some of the side streets. A crane and some other heavy equipment on the construction site was partially submerged.
Thompson said the broken hydrant did not affect water service in any of the homes in the area.
