Authorities launched an investigation into 31-year-old Aaron Gregory Lucas for the past several months. Investigators say Lucas committed several sexual offenses involving girls under the age of 12 in the Fountain, Colorado Springs and unincorporated El Paso County areas.
"Lucas has been involved in a pattern of sex offenses involving young girls, dating back to the summer of 2010, when he arrived in Colorado and was stationed on Ft. Carson," Fountain police Sergeant Scott Gilbertsen said in a release.
According to the Denver Post, in June, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office responded when a man forced a 9-year-old girl into a vehicle in Stratmoor Valley, while a friend of hers watched helplessly. The kidnapper dropped the child off later in a nearby neighborhood, according to El Paso County Sheriff's Sgt. Joe Roybal.
Sheriff's deputies also responded in October, when a man made a sexual reference and grabbed a 7-year-old girl by the hand while she was walking home from school, the Post said. The girl was able to pull away from the man and escape into her home.
Lucas faces charges including kidnapping, sexual assault on a child, enticement of a child and indecent exposure.
