The University is no longer obligated by the court to withhold information regarding James Holmes, a former neuroscience graduate student.
A judge ruled CU must decide on its own what records can be released under Colorado law.
Holmes' attorneys and prosecutors argued that lifting the gag order would impact their investigation and "could make witnesses less willing to cooperate."
Holmes relationship with psychiatrist Lynne Fenton is still protected under state law.
The 24-year-old Holmes is charged with killing 12 people and injuring at least 58 by opening fire in a crowded theater on July 20. He's being held without bail and hasn't entered a plea.
