In November 2011, Bennett Lee jumped into a pond near Arapahoe Road and E-470 after his 6-year-old friend broke through the ice. Lee - without regard for his own well-being - jumped into the freezing pond and made his way to his friend in shoulder-deep water. Two other kids then helped Lee recover 6-year-old Logan Flay from the pond.
Lee says he had no idea he was going to win the award and was surprised when he was given it during an assembly Monday at Fox Hollow Elementary.
Lee and Flay appeared on 9NEWS Tuesday morning. Watch the video above to see the full interview.
