The snow arrived before dawn Wednesday, a few hours behind schedule. It continued to move across the plains of Colorado, where wind gusts of up to 40 mph created blizzard conditions.
Flights delays at Denver International Airport were minimal, averaging 30 minutes.
There have been a total of 47 commuter/regional flights cancelled by Skywest Wednesday and that number is not expected to change, DIA reports.
More than 1,800 flights are scheduled to fly in and out of DIA Wednesday.
The Denver area got about 3 and 6 inches and some parts of the mountains could got as much as 2 feet.
The moisture is a relief after an extended wildfire season. It's also a gift for ski resorts right before the busy holiday week.
