DENVER - The Avalanche Information Center has released a preliminary report into what triggered an avalanche at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area over the weekend.
The report confirms the slide was triggered by skiers. An A-Basin ski patroller was leading a group of 14 skiers when the avalanche was triggered in west Montezuma Bowl.
The skiers were caught and carried down the mountain in the avalanche that was 330-feet wide and up to 12-feet deep.
One person was buried in the snow, but no one was seriously injured.
The area was closed to the general public, but the Summit County resort says it had undergone "extensive" avalanche mitigation in recent days.
