WESTMINSTER - Standley Lake High School was on lockout after at least four guns were found on school property.
Police say a campus supervisor discovered a shotgun and a lever-action rifle between two sheds by the athletic fields around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Sources told 9NEWS two additional guns were found on school property during the investigation. They believe all four guns were taken from a home burglary.
The Westminster school, located at 9300 West 104th Ave., was placed on lockout at 1:15 p.m. Classes were released a little later than the normal time.
"I don't like it. I don't like it at all," Standley Lake High School parent Dennis Guern said. "I don't like any of this stuff that's been going on here in Westminster or Aurora. I'm scared. I'm scared."
Police were searching the backyard of a home that may have been broken into near the school.
Two juveniles that do not attend Standley Lake High School were contacted, but police have not made any arrests. Police are looking into why they were on school property.
It's not clear why the weapons were on school grounds. Police said they weren't aware of any recent threats against students or staff.
