CASTLE ROCK - A Castle Rock school was forced into lockdown Thursday after a search for burglary suspects turned into an officer involved shooting. There were no injuries.
It started when a neighbor in the 500 block of Mango Drive in Castle Rock called 911 about suspicious people, wearing masks, at a home in the area around 1 p.m.
When Castle Rock Police spotted the three suspects, officers say two of them took off on foot. Investigators say the third suspect jumped in an SUV and then tried to ram officers and their cars.
An officer shot at the SUV after it swerved at them. The back window was broken out, but no one was hit.
The driver ran off the road and was then arrested. After a search of the area, the two other suspects were caught and arrested.
Meanwhile, the nearby DC Oak High School was placed on lockdown. That status was changed to lockout later in the day and classes were released on time.
Roads in the area were closed while police searched the area.
