Arvada customers left without trash service

ARVADA - Many neighbors in Arvada, and in many other surrounding communities, say they have not received a trash pickup for nearly three weeks. The company they've hired is Environmental Waste Solutions, which is based in Arvada.

The city sent the company a letter back in March letting them know that their license was expired and they need to re-new or stop operating. Since then, city spokesperson Maria VanderKolk says the city has continued to try and get in touch with the company, but they haven't had any luck.

"We had no way of contacting them other than seeing trucks in a neighborhood, because they only have a P.O. Box," VanderKolk said. "We were not able to get in contact with these people through their phones. No one answers."

The Better Business Bureau says the Environmental Waste Solutions has an "F" rating. The BBB have also received numerous calls and are now investigating.

Officials at the BBB say they are working to track down the owner and determine if they're still operating. In the meantime, they're encouraging customers to file complaints with their agency. They are also reminding the public to do their research before hiring a company.

The City of Arvada says they have a list of all licensed trash collecting companies on their website:
