Body found in garage identified as missing man

FORT MORGAN - Authorities say the body found in a garage Monday has been identified as a 40-year-old man first reported missing in March.

Fort Morgan Police haven’t said how they believe Santos De Santigao Macias died, or if foul played was involved.

His body was found in the 19000 block of Highway 34 late Monday morning.

When he was first reported missing, police warned he may be with 18-year-old Destiny McMinn, who they referred to as his possible girlfriend. She has not yet been located, and in a news release, Fort Morgan Police said “with Macias found dead, there is obviously serious concern for her safety.”

Macias was wanted on drug charges. It’s not confirmed if he was ever with McMinn, who had previously said she wanted to move to Arizona.

The circumstances of Macias’ death remain under investigation. Anyone with information about his death or McMinn’s whereabouts is asked to call the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office at 970-867-5678.
