Central City Parkway reopens after rockslide

KUSA -Central City Parkway reopened Friday after a rockslide blocked all four lanes Tuesday.

Currently, only one lane in each direction is open. Normally, there are two lanes each way.

The slide occurred at around 2:30 p.m. at mile marker 1.5, about a mile and half from Interstate 70.

Tumbling rocks snapped a power line and knocked out all power to parkway lighting. The parkway was shut down in both directions.

There is no indication of any injuries or that any vehicles or people were near the slide when it occurred. Highway 6 from Golden is an alternate route. From I-70, drivers can take Exit 244, then turn onto Hwy. 6, which connects to Hwy. 119. That road will take you to Black Hawk.
