Colorado homebuilder enters Charlotte market with 50-acre buy

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Century Communities Inc. is making its debut in North Carolina's largest city, buying a nearly 50-acre swath of land that had been targeted for an apartment project.

Century Communities Southeast LLC, affiliated with Greenwood Village-based Century Communities (NYSE: CCS), closed on an $8 million purchase of 12 parcels totaling 46.9 acres in Charlotte, according to Mecklenburg County real estate records.

The land had previously been owned by Arrowood Station Holdings LLC, affiliated with real estate investment company Gvest Capital.

Attempts to reach Century Communities for more information on its plans for the site were not immediately successful. Century builds single-family homes and townhouses in Colorado, Georgia, Nevada, Texas and Utah.
