CSP Trooper injured in morning pursuit

DOUGLAS COUNTY – A Colorado State Patrol Trooper will recover from injuries he received after being hit on E-470 when he was trying to deploy stop sticks to stop a carjacking suspect.

Trooper Bellamann Hee, an eight year veteran of the CSP, underwent surgery Wednesday afternoon and is expected to make a full recovery says CSP.

CSP Tweeted that Trooper Hee and his family thank everyone for their well wishes.

According to CSP, Trooper Hee is assigned to the Castle Rock Troop Office and is active in the local community. Trooper Hee is the President of the Association of Colorado State Patrol Professionals.

CSP released information on Trooper Hee through a series of Tweets from @CSP_News.

"Trooper Bellamann Hee is very active in the local communities and is often seen during our Tip-A-Cop events for Special Olympics Colorado."

"Thank you for all the support of our brother during his fight. We should have an update after surgery in a few hours."

The carjacking suspect, Ryan Stone, was later captured by law enforcement after a short foot pursuit. The events of the morning started when the suspect allegedly store a red SUV with a 4-year-old boy inside it from a gas station in Longmont. Soon after stealing the SUV the suspect was monitored and followed by SKY9, which recorded the suspect abandoning the stolen SUV and carjacking two more vehicles before crashing at Lincoln Avenue and Peoria Street in Douglas County.
