Fire in Arvada involves 'multiple structures,' smoke visible for miles

Viewer photos of the fire showed thick black smoke and flames rising above an apartment complex.

ARVADA - No one was injured in a fire that damaged two units of an Arvada townhome community Monday afternoon.

Arvada Fire Department responded to a structure fire near 64th and Ward Road around 2:45 p.m.

Smoke from the fire could be seen across the metro area.

Five people were inside the complex when the fire started; no one was injured.

The fire department said multiple structures were involved as of 2:50 p.m. About 10 minutes later, the department tweeted the fire was under control.

Firefighters attacked the fire defensively, and limited the damage to two units. A third suffered smoke damage.

A photo tweeted out by the department appeared to show smoke and fire damage to a detached-type garage building.
