ARAPAHOE COUNTY - All four of the firefighters who were taken to the hospital after an apartment fire ravaged an apartment complex Monday afternoon are out of the hospital.
The blaze has rendered 24 units in the Reserve at Hunter’s Run unlivable, firefighters said Tuesday. The building is likely to be a total loss, but some of the residents’ belongings are salvageable.
The fire broke out at the complex at 7777 E. Yale Avenue at around 3 p.m. Heavy smoke was seen throughout the area, and the fire forced nearby roads to close as 75 firefighters battled the blaze.
What caused the fire remains under investigation, but Cunningham Fire spokesperson Jerry Rhodes did say they have determined the blaze started outside the building.
Rhodes says firefighters have found the ignition source of the fire, and are now interviewing residents to learn more about what sparked it.
The Salvation Army and Red Cross are helping the residents displaced by the fire. Rhodes says some of them were able to stay with family and friends, though others were put up in hotels.
